19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard court after March of that year.

Victory also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children at once, so to win a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
